Badingham Shop & Café

Well, another two months have gone by in a blur of fun and activity - and by the time you read this we will have enjoyed a splendid celebration at the shop & café to mark one year since we opened.

The event on 24th May also saw the presentation of a marvellous £5,000 from the
Working Together Awards Fundwhich is funded by Suffolk County Council and administered by Suffolk Community Foundation.

If you’ve been down to the shop (and we certainly hope you have!) you can’t have failed to notice the work that is going on outside. After much digging, heaving, planting and turf-laying by a small but enthusiastic band of volunteers, the new garden and outdoor eating area is taking beautiful shape.

Soon we’ll have a large, communal table in place, perfect for al fresco eating during the forthcoming summer months, and some clever planting will create a real garden feel that we hope will entice regulars and new customers alike.

Our new seasonal menu is going down very well - lots of healthy, tasty and colourful salads alongside the usual offering of paninis and delicious home-baked goodies.

We have a Facebook group - Badingham Village Shop and Cafe which now has more than 200 members! - and among other interesting things you’ll see appealing photos of some of the salads on offer. If you haven’t found us online yet, please pop on and ask to join. We’ll welcome you with open arms!

Another successful crafting event took place at the end of April when textile artist Jayne Stansfeld ran a second needle felting workshop. This one focused on three-dimensional creations and there was a lot of laughter as creative souls got to work.
If you would be interested in running a crafty session at the shop please contact Tanya on 01728 638894 for a chat.

Can you help?

The shop & café is run by a loyal group of volunteers who offer as much time as they can - whether it’s the occasional shift or a regular slot it’s all very much appreciated and these lovely people are the reason the shop and café is still going after a year. With the summer months nearly on us though, time is precious for many and we’d love to welcome some more willing hands.

Could you spare a few hours (from 10.30am to about 1.30pm) to serve in the café occasionally or regularly? It’s great fun and very rewarding and you’ll receive some excellent training so you’ll know exactly what to do. If you’d like to find out more please contact Karen on 638061.

The shop & café remains a great place to meet up with friends old and new so we do hope you’ll continue to support our fantastic community venture. See you there!
