Badingham Shop & Café

Where is the summer going? We’ve certainly been enjoying some fabulous weather and we’ve seen plenty of eating and socialising in the shop & café too. Thank you for your wonderful continued support!

Work on the new garden area is progressing and if you’ve walked past us on Low Street you’ll have seen the flourishing grass and flower beds along with some tasty-looking tomato plants and herbs that are finding their way into our dishes.

We also have a gorgeous new wooden table and matching benches outside the shop. They were made by the talented Tom Clark and they create an inviting seating area for a spot of food and drink in the fresh air, so do come and see for yourselves.
You might be tempted by one of our special salads … the summer menu has been a big hit and Tanya, assisted by Marion, Gillian and Martin, have been doing us proud creating a different salad every day. If you’d like to see what’s on offer pop onto our Facebook page - Badingham Village Shop and Café- to see the daily picture that she posts there.

Our regular opening on the first Sunday of each month continues to be very popular. Cream teas and homemade cakes are always a winner and you’re helping to ensure this 3pm to 5pm slot is a great time to open. Why not join us at the next one - on August 6th - or the one after that on September 3rd. (How can we possibly be talking about September already?!)

If you’re a reader of the local About Fram magazine you may have seen us in Issue 14 when the shop & café appeared in the About Taste pages. It’s always exciting to receive press coverage for our very special venture.
And don’t forget there’s always an appealing selection of crafts and produce on the shelves - perfect for finding something a bit different either for yourself or as a gift.

Looking ahead!

We are repeating two very special events this year after their inaugural success last year.

An afternoon tea in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support will take place on Friday 29th September. Tickets will once again be available from the shop so keep an eye out for those as numbers will be limited.
We will also be running a Christmas Fair again to offer an opportunity for purchasing handmade crafts and goodies. This will take place on Friday 10th November and will feature a wide range of local crafts which make wonderful gifts. Seasonal refreshments will be available too.
Pop both dates in your diary now!

Stop the press!

Here’s something to look out for … we’re planning a 2018 calendar featuring recipes used in the café. Calendars make great gifts and this will definitely be unique! More details available later.

Fancy helping out?

We’re so fortunate to have a wonderful band of volunteers keeping our shop & café going. Many are from Badingham itself but we’re delighted that a number of fellow enthusiasts from surrounding villages are involved too. Volunteering in the shop & café is a fun, sociable and rewarding way to spend a couple of hours. We’ve welcomed some new helpers to our team recently but there is always room for more. If you could spare a few hours on an occasional or regular basis your time would be much appreciated and you would also be helping to ensure the continued success of our fabulous community gathering place. Training is provided - along with plenty of laughter! To find out more please contact Karen on 638061.
